DANGER
Handling the battery
- When charging, use the specified battery charger and follow the specified charging conditions. Otherwise, overheating, rupture or ignition may occur.
- Do not leave the battery near heat sources such as heaters. Otherwise, it may rupture or ignite.
- Do not heat the battery or throw it into a fire. Otherwise, it may burst or catch fire.
- Do not deform, modify or disassemble the battery; also do not apply solder directly to the battery terminals. Otherwise, it may leak liquid, overheat, burst or catch fire.
- Do not connect the terminals with metal objects. Otherwise, they may short-circuit or overheat, resulting in burns or other injuries.
- Do not carry or store the battery with metal objects such as chains or hairpins. Otherwise, they may short-circuit or overheat, resulting in burns or other injuries.
- Do not immerse the battery in fresh or salt water, and do not let the battery terminals get wet. Otherwise, it may overheat, burst or catch fire.
- Do not subject the battery to strong impact or throw it. Otherwise, it may overheat, burst or catch fire.
- In the event of a battery fire, the following must be observed:
If possible, carefully keep other batteries away from the fire.
Evacuate all persons from the immediate area of the fire.
Extinguish the fire with a large amount of cold water (at least the weight of 10 battery blocks).
Handling the battery charger
- Do not disassemble or modify the battery charger. Failure to do so may result in electric shock or injury.
- Use the specified battery and charger combination for charging and observe the specified charging conditions. Charge only rechargeable batteries. Otherwise, it may overheat, burst, or catch fire.
- If the battery is not fully charged even after 2 hours of charging after the specified charging time, immediately unplug the battery from the electrical outlet and contact the place of purchase. Otherwise, it may overheat, burst, or catch fire.
See “Specified charging time.”
- Do not let the battery charger get wet. If it gets wet or water gets inside, it may catch fire, overheat, or receive an electric shock.
- Do not use it when it is wet, and do not touch or hold it with wet hands. This may result in an electric shock.
- Do not cover the battery charger with cloth or other similar materials during use. Otherwise, heat build-up, casing deformation, fire, ignition or overheating may occur.
- Use the battery charger only with the specified power supply voltage. If the power supply voltage is different from the specified value, fire, explosion, smoke, overheating, electric shock or burns may occur.
WARNING:
Handling the battery
- Use the product under the supervision of a person responsible for safety and only according to the instructions. Do not allow anyone (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, to use the product. Do not allow children to play near the product.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- If battery leakage gets into your eyes, immediately rinse the affected area thoroughly with drinking water (tap water) without rubbing your eyes and seek medical attention immediately. Failure to do so may cause damage to your eyes.
- If battery leakage gets on your skin or clothing, immediately flush with clean water (clean for at least 15 minutes). Leaking liquid can damage your skin.
- If symptoms occur due to accidental ingestion of battery liquid, contact with skin or eyes, or inhalation of battery combustion products, seek medical attention.
- If you accidentally inhale vapors or fumes, immediately move to fresh air, stay warm and quiet, and seek professional medical attention if necessary.
- Do not use the battery outside the specified operating temperature range. If the battery is used or stored at temperatures outside these ranges, fire, battery damage, or operational problems may occur.
1. During discharge: -10 - 50°C
2. During charging: 0 - 40°C
Temperatures above 60°C may cause the battery to leak and burst.
- Do not use the battery if there are obvious scratches or other external damage. Failure to do so may result in cracking, overheating, or problems during operation.
- Do not use products with broken seals. Immediately dispose of them for proper recycling. (The screw heads on the cover are sealed with glue or a cover.)
- Do not use the battery if it shows any leakage, discoloration, deformation, or other unusual signs. Failure to do so may result in cracking, overheating, or problems during operation.
- Batteries must not come into contact with solvents (i.e. thinners, alcohol, oil, or anti-corrosion agents) or chemicals that affect the surface (i.e. cleaning agents).
Handling the battery charger
- When connecting or disconnecting the cable, hold the power plug. Failure to do so may result in fire or electric shock.
- If the following symptoms occur, stop using the device and contact the place of purchase. It may cause a fire or electric shock.
If there is a strong smell of smoke coming from the power plug or the plug becomes hot.
There is a poor connection inside the power plug.
- Do not touch the metal parts of the power plug or the AC adapter during a lightning storm. If lightning strikes, you may receive an electric shock.
- Do not overload the power outlet with appliances that exceed the rated capacity of the outlet, and use only an AC outlet with a 100-240 V AC rating. If the power outlet is overloaded by connecting a large number of appliances using adapters, it may overheat and cause a fire.
- Do not damage the power cord or the power plug. (Do not damage, modify, forcibly bend, twist, or stretch them; do not place them near hot objects, place heavy objects on them, or tie them tightly together.) If used in a damaged condition, it may cause fire, electric shock, or short circuit.
- Do not use the battery charger in conjunction with commercially available electrical transformers designed for use abroad (travel converters). This may cause damage to the battery charger.
- Always insert the power plug all the way in. Failure to do so may result in fire.
- Do not insert or pull out the power plug when it is wet. Doing so may result in electric shock. If water leaks from the power plug, dry it thoroughly before inserting it.
- Do not charge the battery in damp places or areas with high humidity. (EC-E8004) Do not charge the battery in damp places, areas with high humidity, or outdoors. (Battery charger other than EC-E8004) Fire, ignition, overheating, or electric shock may occur.
- Do not move the bicycle while charging the battery that is installed on the bicycle. The battery charger's AC plug may be loose and may not be fully inserted into the electrical outlet, which poses a risk of fire.
CAUTION
Handling the battery
- Do not leave the battery in a place exposed to direct sunlight, inside a vehicle on a hot day, or in other hot places. This may result in battery fluid leakage.
- Avoid large temperature changes.
- Do not store this product near open flames and food.
- Store the battery in a dry place.
- Handle components with both hands. Otherwise, components may fall and break or cause injury.
- If an error occurs while charging or discharging the battery, stop using it immediately and read the user manual. If you are unsure, contact the place of purchase or distributor.
- Do not touch the battery for a long time when it is at high temperature. This may cause a low temperature burn. Riding with high levels of assistance on hot days or charging the battery in direct sunlight may cause the surface temperature of the battery to exceed 60°C (BT-E8036).
Handling the battery charger
- Check the battery charger and adapter regularly; pay particular attention to damage to the cable, plug and casing. If the charger or adapter is damaged, do not use it until it has been repaired at the place of purchase or by a distributor.
- Use the product under the supervision of a person responsible for safety and only after receiving instructions on how to use it. Do not allow persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, inexperienced persons or persons without the required knowledge to use the product. Do not allow children to play near the product.
- When cleaning, remove the mains plug from the electrical outlet and the charging plug from the battery. Failure to do so may result in electric shock.
- Do not touch the battery charger when it is hot. This may cause burns.
- Do not touch the battery charger for a long time when it is hot. This may cause burns at low temperatures.
- The temperature of the product may reach 40 to 70°C during charging. This is normal.
- Before using the battery charger, read all instructions and warning labels on the battery charger, battery and product using the battery.
