WARNING
Information on installation, adjustment and replacement of products that are not found in the user manual will be provided to you at the place of purchase or distributor. The dealer's manual for professional and experienced bicycle mechanics can be found on our website (https://si.shimano.com).
For safety, please read this "User's Manual" carefully before use, follow it for proper use, and keep it for future reference.
The following instructions must always be followed to prevent personal injury and physical damage to the equipment and surroundings. The instructions are classified according to the degree of danger or damage that may occur if the product is used incorrectly.
DANGER - Failure to follow the instructions will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING - Failure to follow the instructions could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION - Failure to follow the instructions could result in personal injury or physical damage to the equipment and surroundings.
WARNING
- Because each bicycle may handle slightly differently depending on the model, learn proper braking technique (including brake lever pressure and bicycle handling characteristics) and the operation of your bicycle. Improper use of the bicycle's braking system can result in loss of control, which could lead to serious injury from a fall or collision.
- Do not disassemble or modify the product. This may cause the product to malfunction, you may fall unexpectedly and be seriously injured.
- Before riding the bicycle, check that the wheels are securely fastened. You may fall or crash and be seriously injured.
CAUTION
- Shift the shifting lever only one gear at a time (one or two gears for an 11-speed hub). Reduce pressure on the pedals when shifting. If you try to apply force to the shifting lever or perform multiple shifting while pedaling hard, your feet may slip off the pedals, the bicycle may fall over and serious injury may result. Using the shifting lever for multiple shifting may also cause the outer casing to slip off the shifting lever. This does not affect the functions of the shifting lever, as the outer casing returns to its original position after shifting.
- Do not use the brakes continuously when riding down long slopes. For freewheel brakes or roller brakes, this will cause the internal parts of the brakes to become very hot, reducing braking performance and reducing the amount of brake fluid in the brakes, resulting in noise or problems such as abnormally sudden braking. For hydraulic disc brakes, this may cause the brake lever to suddenly increase in force, causing the brakes to malfunction and leading to serious injury.
- Perform the warm-up procedure and check the braking force of the brakes.
- Do not touch the area around the brakes for at least 30 minutes after you have finished riding the bicycle. If the brake is used frequently, the area around the brake may become hot.
